Fares for traveling with an infant

Domestic Travel

Northwest accepts infants (children under 2) to travel for free when not occupying a seat and when accompanied by a paying adult passenger. Domestic is defined as 50 U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.

International Travel

Northwest/KLM accepts infants - (children under 2) - when accompanied by a paying passenger at least 18 years of age in any class of service.

A ticket for the infant must be issued for the entire journey even if the infant is not occupying a seat or being assessed a fare. The fare for an infant under 2 not occupying a seat will be 10 percent of the accompanying adult fare unless otherwise specified in the fare rule. Infants traveling with adults on an international award fare wholly using SkyMiles will only be assessed applicable taxes, fees, and surcharges.

Please contact Northwest Airlines Reservations at 1-800-225-2525 when you have concluded your online booking. Further information is required in order to finalize your reservation for traveling with an infant.
